I make art to celebrate and understand life- mine, my family and friends, and strangers. I make art for the joy of color, line, and form. Through this practice I strive to understand, be with, and appreciate nature and its sophisticated intelligence.
My collage portraits of women symbolize the unique roles of women in society and value expressions of their own personalities. They are bound together, no matter their language, color or country as sisters
When I make art I open myself to my intuition. Whether I am painting, making collage, or working with clay I am compelled to trust myself and forge ahead. I bring certain skills as well as a lack of skills to the task. I see both as valuable in making choices and essential to the finished piece.
Making art can be difficult and frustrating. Once the action is taken, challenges are overcome and a successful, well crafted piece of work is realized it is immensely satisfying. This act adds poetry to my life.
